Stiles Switch BBQ Review: The North Austin Gem You Shouldn’t Skip
When folks talk about Austin BBQ, South Austin usually steals the spotlight. But up north sits a gem that’ll have you singing hallelujah: Stiles Switch BBQ. Tucked away in an old strip center on Lamar, it feels modest—until you catch a whiff of that heavenly smoke.
We strutted in wearing our Texas bikini tops (fitting, since it’s right by the Yellow Rose), and were welcomed by ice-cold AC and the friendliest staff you’ll meet this side of the Pecos.
The pit crew even gave us a tour where we met their smokers—our favorites? Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton. We asked Dolly, “What’s the secret to a good rub?” and she said, *“A pinch of this, a dash of that, and a whole lotta ‘I’ll start my diet tomorrow.’”
